Conventus Becomes Distributor for AGC Chemicals Americas

Conventus Polymers LLC, Parsippany, New Jersey, a distributor of high-performance engineering thermoplastics, has been named a distributor of AGC Chemicals Americas’ fluoropolymer resins in the US, Canada and Mexico. The agreement with the Exton, Pennsylvania-based global producer covers Fluon® ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) fluoropolymers and Fluon® PFA resins, which are copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluorinated vinyl ether.

The agreement expands Conventus’ growing fluoropolymer portfolio and complements its engineering plastics line with high-performance materials.

Fluoropolymers are known for their chemical resistance, inherent flame retardance, mechanical strength over a wide temperature range and excellent electrical properties. Conventus will sell ETFE and PFA fluoropolymers for injection molding, extrusion and compression molded applications. The fluoropolymer offering enables Conventus to target the electrical industry, particularly the semiconductor market segment. The company also will look to grow ETFE organically and potentially replace polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) which continues to be in tight supply, according to John Jorgensen, president of Conventus Polymers.

The company’s focused approach within key end-use markets and its ability to develop new applications will be critical in expanding penetration of AGC Chemicals’ fluoropolymers throughout the US, Canada and Mexico.

Conventus’ strategy to align its business with global industry leaders is further solidified by this agreement with AGC Chemicals. Conventus will provide all technical marketing, account management, application development and customer service support.
