MAC Automation Concepts Completes Facility Expansion

MAC Automation Concepts, Woodstock, Illinois, a supplier of auxiliary equipment and parts-handling solutions to the plastics industry, recently completed an expansion increasing its land and plant size. The company acquired an additional 4.4 acres for a total of a 7.5-acre parcel and added a 30,000 sq. ft. addition to its existing building, for a total plant size of 74,000 sq. ft. with the potential for an additional 50,000 sq. ft. building.

Frank Eltvedt, president and CEO of MAC Automation, said the expansion was necessary to keep up with the company’s increased sales. “We’re seeing continued year-over-year growth, and we anticipate that continuing across all segments of the plastics and packaging industry,” he said. “We continue to hire new staff and needed more space.”

Eltvedt said that the new space will mostly be used for manufacturing, including an expanded area for mechanical and electrical assembly as well as quality control and finished goods inventory. In addition, the company has built a new sewing room for producing the company’s popular line of gaylord covers.

Joe Gracia, national sales manager at MAC Automation, said the company is seeing a lot of business from reshoring. In addition, the trend towards increased automation has helped MAC. “Customers continue to automate, as they continue to have trouble finding workers,” he said.

MAC Automation currently employs 62 in Woodstock, which is up 15% from last year. “We’re continuing to hire employees to keep up with our growth,” said Theresa Reynolds, production operations manager at MAC. “We expect to be up to 70 employees by the end of 2023.”
