Press release submitted on behalf of LS Mtron.
Demos will include sustainable hybrid material molding, 18-inch multi-touch controller
Hosting the biggest NPE 2024 booth devoted solely to injection molding machines (IMMs), Korea’s No. 1 molding machine manufacturer LS Mtron will showcase an array of new equipment, including a hybrid processing method that combines virgin and recycled material, and a larger multifunction touch controller.
Aimed at the electric vehicle (EV) battery market is the company’s LSG-VL, one of a series of vertical IMMs, featuring the 18-inch multi-touch Keba Controller and available in clamping forces from 35 to 660 tons. A 170-ton LSG-V machine will be molding an EV component at NPE. The LSG-V series can save slash energy usage 65% to 70% thanks to its servo pump system. A mechanism of four tie bars ensures greater stability.
LS Mtron’s enlarged Keba Controller offers easy cycle analysis and unit conversion, as well as a memo function that lets users associate that data with a specific mold. Users can also use multiple units (psi, inches, mm, etc.) and languages, and even customize password controls.
The Keba Controller will also be demonstrated with LS Mtron’s ONE* series. The ONE* portfolio of hybrid IMMs is optimized for high-precision molding of automotive parts, using heavier molds to produce larger parts with detailed surface treatment. The company will demonstrate a the ONE*-1400 producing the rear door side trim with clean surface finish for a Hyundai Motor Group vehicle.
Key benefits of the ONE* series of IMMs include:
- A no-lubrication sliding bush for 40% improvement on tie-bar dropping.
- Quick barrel-change system
ONE* Options include:
- One-touch tie-bar separation, eliminating disassembly/reassembly.
- Easy mold replacement in low-ceiling spaces.
Addressing environmental sustainability demands, LS Mtron will demonstrate its sandwich injection molding with its Piggyback Multi Component (PMC). By molding surface layers of virgin material and recycled materials in the core layer, LS Mtron achieves high-quality appearance with structural integrity.
Additionally, LS Mtron will showcase new lines of IMM’s including:
LSG-E:
A full-electric IMM with 35 to 950 tons capacity – and, an all-new 1,500 ton model will be introduced in 2024. Featuring a high-stiffness platen with optimized five-point toggle design for high-speed clamping and high-intensity injection, the LSG-E is ideal for high-precision applications. It features:
- 13% to 27% increase in injection volume
- 11.811 inches per second (300 mm/sec) injection speed
- Extended tie-bar distance (90-440 ton)
- Extended daylight available (90-440 ton)
LSG-H:
A servo-hydraulic IMM available at 500 to 3,600 tons. Geared to advanced productivity and position reproducibility, this machine features:
- 39.370 inches per second (1,000 mm/sec) mold open and close speed by proportional valve
- Easy-to-change Y, A, B screw
- 0.07% weight deviation
- Oil-leak prevention and quick-change barrel system
LSG-V: This Vertical series of machines features plenty of versatility, with models available from 30-660 tons and numerous configurations including single- and shuttle-type vertical injection and single-, shuttle- and rotary-type horizontal versions. The series offers:
- Reduced operating and maintenance cost by minimizing cooling water, tank size and oil lines
- Optional electric injection unit to minize defect rates
- Compact machine size compared with other IMMs
With 13,500 square feet of booth space at NPE2024, LS Mtron is showcasing its exponential growth over the past six years. The company is one of the Top 10 IMM suppliers worldwide and is proceeding with North American growth plans.
LS Mtron has more than 2,000 machines installed in North America, primarily for automotive production, as well as appliances, electronics, and logistics packaging. Many of those machines already in North America are in LG and LS Company plants, as well as many other Korean transplants, but the company continues to increase machine sales to the overall injection molding industry. Leading global brands relying on LS Mtron equipment include Hyundai, Kia, Ford, GM, Tesla, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, VW, LG, Samsung, Visteon, Delphi, Mahle, Parker Hannifin, US Merchants, Quantum Storage, Luxit Automotive Lighting, Integrity Mold, Tessy, LG Chem, LG Appliances and many others.

About LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines
LS Mtron is part of the LS Group, a South Korean-based conglomerate with over 25,000 employees, annual revenues of over $30 billion and profit of approximately $1 billion.
‘Made for Molders by Molders,’ LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines (LS IMM), a division of LS Mtron, was started in 1969 by South Korean tech giant LG Corporation, one of the world’s largest plastic molders. Founded initially to satisfy their own production needs for injection molded components used in their world-famous TVs, appliances, electronics, and other products, today LS IMM produces around 3,000 machines per year, not only for use by our network of LS-related and LG-founded companies but also for thousands of molders around the world.
Beginning with the development of Korea’s first injection molding machines, LS IMM prides itself on quality, service and fast deliveries. The combined strength of the LS family of companies allows us to solve many of the world’s supply-chain challenges.
Because of this, LS IMM can provide new custom molding machines to our customers in North America in just 100 days from casting to cargo, or even faster from our stocked inventory.
