Press release submitted on behalf of Viking Plastics.
Viking Plastics, Corry, Pennsylvania, part of the Hoffmann Family of Companies and a leader in injection molding and engineered solutions, announced today that its CEO and Chairman, Kelly Goodsel, has stepped down as part of a strategic succession plan. A pioneer in the plastics industry, Kelly has had a remarkable 37-year career, including 24 years dedicated to shaping and growing Viking Plastics, where he served as an owner for 18 years. Effective November 1, 2024, Viking’s current President, Shawn Gross, succeeded Mr. Goodsel as CEO, leading Viking Plastics into its next chapter.
“This is a bittersweet moment, as I won’t be working with the exceptional team at Viking anymore. I will certainly miss the relationships I’ve built over my career across the industries we serve. My family and I are excited about the new opportunities that await us and look forward to traveling more, enjoying our favorite activities, and applying my energy and experience to other business ventures. On behalf of my family and myself, I extend a sincere thank you to all stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors, suppliers, and the Viking Plastics community, for the past two-plus decades together.”
Since joining Viking Plastics in 2000, Kelly has played a pivotal role in shaping its success. A graduate of Ferris State University with degrees in Plastics Engineering and Sales & Marketing, Kelly also holds an MBA from Temple University, earned during his tenure at DuPont, where he held roles in sales, marketing, R&D, and management. Beyond his professional achievements, Kelly left a positive mark on his community as a coach, building a state-recognized volleyball program at Corry High School. His dedication to both industry and community has established an enduring legacy.
Shawn Gross, CEO of Viking Plastics, shared, “Kelly has been a fixture of this company for over 20 years, leaving an immeasurable mark on Viking and our community. It’s hard to put into words the impact he has had on improving and growing Viking and our team. I am grateful for his steady leadership and personal mentorship during my tenure. Kelly’s tireless efforts to make Viking and the Corry community better are truly appreciated, and we’ll never forget his impact. We wish Kelly and his family all the best as they embark on this next phase of life.
