Grand Traverse Plastics to Expand with Lights-Out Manufacturing Facility

Grand Traverse Plastics (GTP), Williamsburg, Michigan, is expanding to include tight tolerance precision molding. GTP has three facilities on its Williamsburg campus. The existing 33,000 sq. ft. mold manufacturing and in-house automation facility will be converted to allocate 20,000 sq. ft. to a new lights-out injection molding facility.

“We are expanding our technical and tonnage capabilities to support customer demand. The new facility will consist of all electric molding machines, five and six axis robots, in-process vision inspection along with automated material and box conveyor systems,” said Jeff Ignatowski, vice president of sales. Collectively, GTP’s three facilities will offer 27 presses with tonnage ranges from 65t to 200t, 200t to 500t and 500t to 1,100t.

“We are investing over $1.5 million in new equipment and infrastructure which will add new technical and automation jobs to the Traverse City, Michigan area,” said Bob White, president.
