Custom Molder PMT Invests in Additional Capacity

Custom injection molder Plastic Molding Technology (PMT), El Paso, Texas, has invested $1 million in additional capacity to service new demand, adding both vertical and horizontal injection molding presses at its headquarters and factory site in El Paso.

A highlight of the new equipment is the 220-ton Arburg Allrounder 1500T/2000-800. The custom-ordered machine recently arrived at PMT and represents a significant investment in vertical injection molding technology. The Servo-electric rotary table press is a state-of-the-art addition to PMT’s lineup of six vertical machines. PMT now offers 61 injection molding machines in its 60,000-sq.-ft. facility.

Insert molding accounts for 25% of PMT’s current business, and its experience in this niche market is found across the operation — from engineering to quality to production.

The company’s drive to uphold a competitive edge in insert molding led to the investment in the new machinery, along with the need to open new capacity in this tonnage range. PMT’s expertise also extends to proprietary automation and packaging systems integrated into molding cells.

In addition to the new vertical press, PMT also installed two new 300-ton Toyo all-electric horizontal presses earlier this year.
