The American Injection Molding (AIM) Institute announces the addition of Brandon Olson to its instructional team. Olson joins the Institute as the Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding instructor for two of the Mold Maintenance courses. In this role, he will teach students how to enhance their mold repair skills and save their company time and money by being able to do TIG welding in-house.
Olson brings nearly 20 years of experience in industrial maintenance and metal fabrication to help mold maintenance technicians navigate the challenges they face every day. With a background spanning Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and TIG welding, he can answer the range of questions students bring from the shop floor and equip them with the tools they need to advance their careers.
In addition to this new role, he works as Head of Maintenance for Beaumont Tooling Division and instructs at Northwestern Pennsylvania Regional College. Olson uses his experience and practical knowledge to develop his curriculum for precision fabrication and repair welding to ensure students are equipped for their professional careers.
“What I really love about teaching is the look on people’s faces when they lay that first good weld bead,” says Olson. “That moment when the lecture and lab time all come together. It all starts to click and makes sense.”
