Plastikos Medical Orders Two-Shot Injection Molding Machine to Complete ISO-7 Cleanroom Fleet

Press release submitted on behalf of Plastikos.

Plastikos Medical, LLC ordered an Arburg ALLROUNDER MORE 2000 two‑shot injection molding machine (220-ton clamping force) with a 6-axis Yaskawa GP25 robot, which adds multi‑material capability to its ISO‑7 cleanroom fleet. The investment fulfills a planned capacity build‑out and positions the company to support upcoming projects that require multi-materials (e.g., rigid substrate + TPE seal or color/ID features) while maintaining the tight process control demanded for patient‑critical components.

This decision was driven from direct feedback from our clients through numerous in-person visits, business reviews, etc. During these discussions, additional capabilities such as 2-shot molding continued to come up, further prompting the decision to move forward with the investment. Plastikos Medical is executing this exciting next step in its strategic 2026 growth plan as it builds upon the recent installation of its 4th Arburg 720A molding machine and purchase of two new 470A molding machines.

Philip Katen (President) commented: “Plastikos’ leadership team has planned to add 2-shot capabilities to our service offerings for some time, in direct support of medical device customers’ needs.  We are excited to make that plan a reality with this purchase, which will be the 26th medical molding machine in Plastikos Medical’s fleet… effectively the ‘cherry on top’ within Plastikos Medical’s ISO-7 cleanroom production floors.”

What This Means for Our Customers

  • Integrated features: Combine rigid and elastomeric functions in‑mold to reduce downstream assembly.
  • Validation speed: One tool, one machine, one window—fewer fixtures and fewer sampling iterations.
  • Traceability: Cavity‑level monitoring through eDART (RJG) and ALS (Arburg) tie every shot to part/cavity for clean audit trails.

Spec Box

  • Platform: Arburg ALLROUNDER MORE 2000 with 400 and 100 injection units
  • Cleanroom class: ISO‑7 (Class 10,000)
  • Process/quality monitoring: RJG eDART cavity pressure; Arburg ALS data backbone
  • Automation: 6‑axis Yaskawa GP25 robot; mold‑protect, in‑cell vision (attribute checks), cavity separation, packaging, assembly and other secondary operations
  • Validation: Supports IQ/OQ/PQ with capability reporting (Cpk/Ppk)

This order follows Plastikos Medical’s recent expansion of its ISO‑7 cleanroom capacity with an Arburg 720A installation and two additional 470A machines scheduled to arrive in early 2026. The two‑shot capability completes the near‑term equipment roadmap by enabling multi‑material molding in the same validated work cell—aligning with medical device customer needs and requests.

Plastikos Medical operates an ISO‑7 cleanroom under an ISO 13485‑certified quality system with eDART monitoring on every machine, comprehensive validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), and full metrology.
