iD Additives has upgraded its Eco-Pro descaling carts with more durable stainless steel fixtures and is offering retrofitting kits or a refurbishment program for owners of older units with PVC fittings.
Eco-Pro and Eco-Pro 360 carts entered the market in 2019. When visiting a customer, iD Additives noticed they had changed the fittings of their cart to stainless steel.
“They did this since when they were moving the cart and it hit something, they would break off the fittings, so they went to stainless steel,” Sotos explained. “We decided to upgrade our carts in a similar fashion for added durability.”
The carts are now being powder coated black to maintain a cleaner look, he added.
“We also started to offer an optional flowmeter so customers can track the numbers and see the effects of the cart.” The flowmeter features remote readout of gallons per minute, turbulent flow and Reynold’s number and costs $1,100.
The Eco-Pro cart is a pump-and-filter combination descaler unit that removes and helps prevent rust in the cooling passages of molds and heat exchangers. The built-in filter allows the Eco-Pro solution to remain at peak performance for optimal reusability.
Current Eco Pro users can upgrade their existing carts in two ways:
- By purchasing a stainless steel upgrade kit
- By sending their unit to the manufacturing facility in Elkhart, Indiana. Typical turnaround time for the refurbishment and upgrade is two to three weeks.
The upgrade kit includes five stainless steel fittings and all required installation hardware at a cost of $550. Additionally, a pressure regulator has been added to new carts and the upgrade kit to:
• Let users control air pressure going to the pump. Air pressure varies from plant to plant. The control lets users avoid overpressurizing the pump; pressure beyond 100 psi can lead to burst tubes.
• Let users know psi before and after the cleaning process. This lets the user work at the same psi every time and is helpful when a flow meter is attached.
Eco-Pro is distributed by the PCS Company in the U.S. and Acetronic in Canada.
