Federated Mutual Group’s Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating upgraded to “aa” (Superior), Federated Mutual Group and Federated Life Insurance receive A+ (Superior), and Federated Specialty Insurance Company receives A (Excellent) ratings from A.M. Best®

Federated Insurance

A.M. Best Company, the most widely recognized provider of insurance industry ratings and financial data, affirmed its Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of A+ (Superior) for Federated Mutual Group and for Federated Life in April 2026. The companies within Federated Mutual Group include Federated Mutual Insurance Company, Federated Service Insurance Company, Federated Reserve Insurance Company, and Granite Re, Inc. Federated Mutual Group and Federated Life have maintained this rating for 28 and 46 years, respectively.

A.M. Best also affirmed Federated Specialty Insurance Company a FSR of A (Excellent) in April 2026. Federated Specialty is a specialty insurer focusing on U.S. excess and surplus lines accounts. These ratings reflect Federated Specialty’s strategic importance to its parent company, along with its common ownership and management, and the implicit and explicit support provided to Federated Specialty by Federated Mutual. Federated Specialty Insurance Company has maintained this rating since its inception.

In addition, A.M. Best upgraded the Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings (Long-Term ICR) to “aa” (Superior) from “aa-” (Superior) for Federated Mutual Group, while affirming the Long-Term ICR of “aa-” (Superior) for Federated Life and “a” (Excellent) for Federated Specialty. The outlook for these ratings has been revised to stable. Federated’s careful and disciplined approach continues to drive the organization’s strong results. The upgraded Long-Term ICR reflects ongoing stability and profitable growth achieved across multiple business segments. Key operating metrics indicate that recent performance improvements are both robust and sustainable, supported by solid underwriting profitability and increasing investment income. This track record highlights the effectiveness of Federated Mutual’s strategy and reinforces confidence in the company’s future. The ratings of Federated reflect the group’s balance sheet strength, which A.M. Best assesses as strongest as well as its strong operating performance, favorable business profile, and appropriate enterprise risk management (ERM).
