New PCS Heated Sprue Bushing Assemblies Refine Resin Processing

Press release submitted on behalf of PCS.

PCS Company’s new .500- and .750-inch integrally heated sprue bushing assemblies provide superior heat transfer ability when processing a wide range of commodity resins in small to medium volumes.

With a streamlined flow channel that terminates in a reverse-taper gate, these assemblies provide minimum pressure loss and allow rapid gate freeze. The integrally heated design features a replaceable thermocouple located close to the flow channel to optimize processing conditions for all thermoplastics.

“Machine hold time is reduced by the formation of a small gate stub on the part or runner – with no increase in sink marks on the part,” explained PCS Vice President of Sales Derrick Jones. “The reinforced contact area improves strength and heat transfer.”

New PCS heated sprue bushing assemblies are available in three flow diameters, two head styles and two gate styles to suit a broad range of applications. A standard sprue gate is suitable for most applications (press fit areas are held to +/- .0005 inch) while an extra stock sprue gate is available for applications requiring machining of the gate area for runner profiles, part contours or bushing height adjustments.

These assemblies also feature:

  • Fully sealed construction to protect heater and thermocouple.
  • H-13 construction.
  • Maximum operating temperature of 600 degrees F using insulating washers.
