Athena to Showcase Broad Range of Customizable Hot Runner Controllers at NPE2024

Press release submitted on behalf of Athena.

Athena Controls, Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, a leader in digital and analog temperature and process control instrumentation, will feature its hot runner controls that ensure precise temperature regulation during process operations like injection molding, thermoforming and maintenance testing at NPE2024: The Plastics Show. Athena’s plastics process experts will be available to discuss applications and customizable solutions for these control systems at booth W5453 in West Building Level 2. The event will take place from May 6-10, 2024, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

“Our hot runner controllers are based on reliable, proven technology that delivers the best temperature regulation for each specific application,” said Bob Schlegel, president of Athena Controls. “These customizable systems add value by fitting the control’s functionality to every job, so customers get the most cost-effective, energy-efficient solutions for their processes. And only pay for the functionality they need.”

At NPE2024, Athena will feature:

BEDROS hot runner temperature controllers – Compact and robust, the original BEDROS system delivers customizable solutions that provide 8 to 32 zones of microprocessor-based proportional-integral-derivative (PID) temperature control with an easy-to-use touchscreen. BEDROS controllers feature mold storage recipe capabilities that simplify single- and multi-zone system set-up.

BEDROS XL hot runner temperature controllers – The newest, expanded BEDROS model accommodates 36 to 120 zones of microprocessor-based temperature control. It features a large, 12-inch touchscreen and an easy-to-use human-machine interface (HMI).

RMB 3 and 6 series non-modular hot runner temperature controllers – These off-the-shelf systems offer 3 or 6 zones of integrated control in a compact package design. These affordable microprocessor-based control systems are specifically designed for runnerless molding applications.

RMX, RMB, RMA and IMP hot runner temperature controllers – These modular single-zone units are stored in a 12-zone mainframe and are simple to operate because they require no tuning and have a fixed response time optimized for hot runner tips.

16CX universal auto-tuning temperature/process controls – an updated 16 DIN-sized panel-mounted control that provides precise control of a single loop with two independent field-configurable outputs, making them ideal for plastic packaging and extrusion.
