Wisconsin Plastics Inc. (WPI), Green Bay, Wisconsin, marks its 50th anniversary.
“Throughout the past 50 years, Wisconsin Plastics has continually evolved to provide our customers with a steady influx of new and innovative products,” said Jim Christensen, president of Wisconsin Plastics Inc. “We’ve grown to where we are today by staying on top of trends, keeping everything under one roof and driving as much efficiency into our processes as possible. Even as we grow with a focus on automation and technology, we rely heavily on our team for continuous improvement. Together, we aim to keep manufacturing in the United States and offer a turn-key solution for our customers.”
WPI has come a long way since 1972 when founder Jim Christensen Sr. purchased a building containing a small plating operation; this became Valley Plating Inc. – a division of Wisconsin Plastics Inc. In 1982, Jim Sr.’s entrepreneurial spirit compelled him to bring more capabilities into his two-stall garage on the east side of Green Bay; seeing an opportunity to expand into the plastics industry, WPI was born.
Today, WPI services a wide variety of diverse global markets and is set to double the size of its main manufacturing plant by late 2023. This expansion will allow Wisconsin Plastics to bring more of its core competencies in-house and accelerate speed to market for customers. Additionally, this expansion will require added equipment and team members, creating new jobs across all positions for the Green Bay community.
Wisconsin Plastics serves original equipment manufacturers in a variety of industries with services ranging from research and concept testing, design and development, manufacturing and assembly solutions, storage and shipping – creating a one-stop-shop resulting in streamlined communication, lower costs and shorter lead times. As a family-owned business with a diverse network of experts and a collaborative working environment, WPI takes pride in cultivating a family culture that prioritizes authenticity, empathy and enthusiasm in the workplace.
