Pacific Plastics Injection Molding Unveils Facility Expansion

Delivering on a customer-forward strategy for future growth, Pacific Plastics Injection Molding (PPIM), Vista, California, a division of Diversified Plastics, Inc. (DPI), has unveiled a 5,000-sq.-ft. addition to its existing production facility. Started in September of last year, the expansion further increases PPIM’s capability of always exceeding customer requirements, simultaneously reducing lead times while improving production and safety conditions.

Rob Gilman, PPIM general manager, said the expansion includes 3,000 sq. ft. of additional manufacturing area and 2,000 sq. ft. of office and assembly space.

The PPIM facility expansion is not merely space. PPIM renovated HVAC equipment to accommodate the additional square footage and enhance existing working environments. A 165-ton vertical injection molding machine was added to accelerate product delivery and meet expanding customer demands. PPIM also has plans to install five additional presses.

Acquired by DPI in late 2018, PPIM has delivered on a series of production and equipment upgrades that have proven valuable to customers. Last April, PPIM met rapidly growing business demands with the installation of a customized automated loading system. Employing advanced robotic technology, the new system operates around the clock, decreasing production times by 34% and reducing scrap material by half. These reductions provide PPIM customers with faster service and even better pricing.
