PMT Transitions to New IATF Standard

PMT Transitions to New IATF Standard

Plastics Business

Plastic Molding Technology Inc. (PMT), El Paso, Texas, successfully transitioned to the new International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949:2016 automotive quality standard on Oct. 26, becoming one of the first custom plastic injection molders in the region to achieve the certification.

The IATF published IATF 16949:2016, the new standard to supersede and replace the ISO/TS 16949 certification PMT had in place since 2009. The standard redefines requirements for PMT’s quality management system as an automotive industry supplier. The transition brings some important changes, including an emphasis on risk-based assessment thinking and the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) process. The leadership team also is fully engaged in PMT’s culture of continuous improvement.

PMT re-certified to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard as well, ensuring its processes and quality systems remain up-to-date.
