Tech Molded Plastics Provides Solution to Skilled Labor Shortage

Tech Molded Plastics Provides Solution to Skilled Labor Shortage

Plastics Business

Tech Molded Plastics, Inc., Meadville, PA, has found a way to meet the increased demand for skilled labor in the injection molded plastics industry through a partnership with RJG, an injection molding training provider, to train Tech’s employees on-site.

The strategy focuses on developing current employees into more technical roles rather than finding qualified external candidates. To do this, Tech invested in an internal facility devoted to training and Eric Bowersox, process engineering manager, was certified by RJG to teach coursework related to the industry.

Newly-developed strategic goals include certifying all employees in Injection Molding Essentials; Systematic Molding certification for management and employees being developed into new roles; and certifying all processors and shift supervisors with a Master Molder I certification, which certifies in-depth knowledge for creating and troubleshooting the injection molding process.
