From the Editor: January 2020 ENews

Happy New Year, everyone, from Plastics Business magazine.

My name is Dianna Brodine and I’m the managing editor for Plastics Business. It’s a brand new year and the team here at the magazine is excited for 2020, all the things that we have planned.

It’s always great to start fresh at the beginning of a new year, so first up is a new look for the magazine’s digital communications, which you saw as soon as you opened this email. I don’t know about you but my eyes are getting a little bit older so our priorities were to create something that was easier to read, visually appealing and still contains links to the stories and the industry information that you need.

In this issue of the ENews, you can click in to see which stories were our top five in 2019. Not surprisingly, two of our stories focused on finding and retaining talent. That’s going to continue to be an issue for manufacturing in 2020, and these stories featured plastics processors that have started to find some solutions to that problem.

Technology was the feature in two of the top five articles, including in-mold decorating and collaborative robots. And we rounded out the top five with a story on two injection molders that are molding proprietary projects to add to their bottom lines.

What else? Well, we’ve been working hard on the new issue of the magazine – Issue one of 2020 – and that will include stories on standardized work order systems at Automation Plastics and a look at what plastics processors are preparing for in the new year.

So, here we go. We’re ready to tackle 2020, and we’re excited about what’s ahead. Happy New Year from Plastics Business magazine.
