Hoffer Plastics Prioritizes Hiring Veterans

Hoffer Plastics Corporation, South Elgin, Illinois, a custom injection molder, has made hiring and working alongside veterans of the Armed Forces of the US among their top priorities leading into 2021.

The company has successfully hired numerous veterans, providing them with opportunities to grow within the organization and further their educations. Additionally, Hoffer is committed to supporting the veterans they employ throughout the processes they undertake before, during and after future deployments.

The company has prioritized hiring veterans to fill positions in the following departments:

  • Tooling
  • Maintenance
  • Automation
  • General manufacturing

Hoffer Plastics currently employs a group of veterans, including two active army reservists, who have served a combined 43.5 years in the military. Keith Kuhns, an employee at Hoffer Plastics and a member of the Marines and the National Guard, was hired on as a mold injection technician. Kuhns applied to become an apprentice in the tool room, requiring three years of classroom experience. Kuhns was deployed to Afghanistan in September 2019; upon his return home, Hoffer worked alongside Kuhns to reintegrate him into his studies.

Hoffer Plastics offers its employees competitive compensation with profit sharing bonus opportunities; generous benefits packages including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid holidays and vacations; and a safe, healthy work environment. Hoffer Plastics offers long-term career development opportunities including apprenticeship programs, internal skills training, tuition reimbursement and leadership development programs.
