The American Injection Molding (AIM) Institute Elevates Industry Standards with Comprehensive Workforce Education & Training Programs

Press release submitted on behalf of AIM.

ERIE, PA — The American Injection Molding (AIM) Institute provides world-class education and training in the plastics injection molding industry through a variety of courses and programs, some of which are accredited to the ANSI/ASTM E2659 standard. AIM is driven by the mission of advancing the industry. Central to this mission is the AIM Institute’s Workforce Evaluation, a powerful tool designed to act as the blueprint to unlock your team’s full potential.

The Workforce Evaluation helps eliminate the guesswork in employee training plans. To do this, AIM utilizes online assessments across three key areas: Design & Engineering, Molding, and Autodesk® Moldflow®. AIM’s seasoned instructors use these evaluations to pinpoint critical knowledge gaps that may be keeping your operation from being more profitable. Based on the evaluation results, AIM provides a tailored individual roadmap for each employee, recommending specific education and training pathways needed to transform your workforce into one driven by critical thinking and innovative problem-solving.

To fill these identified gaps, the AIM Institute offers the most complete education and training programs tailored to actual job responsibilities. For example, our Molders’ Series focuses directly on a processor’s daily job responsibilities versus the typical approach of sending every processor to the same course.

Whether you are looking to upskill new hires or provide advanced technical education & training for seasoned employees, the AIM Institute offers a robust catalog of specialized courses and programs, including:

  • Plastics Technology & Engineering (PT&E) Program: The PT&E Certificate Program is accredited to the ANSI/ASTM E2659 standard. This program provides an in-depth & comprehensive education & training solution designed around the primary disciplines of the injection molding industry: Plastic Materials, Mold Design, Injection Molding Processing, and Part Design. Students who meet all the program requisites are awarded the PT&E certificate and earn the designation of “Plastics Technology & Engineering Professional” in recognition of their achievement.
  • Molders’ Series: Accredited to the ANSI/ASTM E2659 standard, these courses are designed to give molders the knowledge, confidence, and troubleshooting skills essential for success. The curriculum is specifically tailored to meet the demands of key job responsibilities within an organization, including process start-up and replication, process development and documentation, and process engineering.
  • Plastics Technology (PT) Courses: The PT Courses are designed to provide foundational knowledge within the core disciplines of the injection molding industry. Students will gain insight into: Plastic Materials, Mold Design, Injection Molding Processing, and Part Design. Those who complete all four courses and pass the optional exams are awarded the “Plastics Technology Associate” designation, recognizing their achievement.
  • Mold Maintenance: Our Mold Maintenance Center of Excellence offers a variety of maintenance courses on specific topics, including troubleshooting and repairing hot and cold runner molds, mold component repair, polishing, texturing, and company-wide maintenance strategies.
  • Autodesk® Moldflow® Training: Hands-on training on Moldflow software (Insight & Adviser) to help students become proficient in optimizing part and mold designs to reduce time-to-market and manufacturing defects.
  • Online Plastics Bootcamp: These courses provide attendees with a great foundation and introduction into the injection molding industry and what it takes to make a plastic part. These are often used for on-boarding new employees and preparing students for more in-depth courses. The Bootcamp courses are LIVE and interactive, featuring in-person instruction from our online training studio. With the use of our video camera and component viewer, our students feel like they’re directly in the training room with us.
  • Molding Math: A fundamental course designed to equip floor personnel and technicians with the essential math required daily for process setup, troubleshooting, and quality control.

About the AIM Institute The AIM Institute’s educational and training courses are rooted in research and are designed to help students solve problems using critical thinking by expanding their knowledge and skills. They are trusted worldwide to develop injection molding professionals through accredited education and training and are driven by the mission of advancing the injection molding industry.
