Press release submitted on behalf of PCS.
Several injection molding products from PCS Company will make their show debut at PTXPO March 17-19 in Rosemont, Illinois, including inch and metric ranges of stainless steel ejector pins.
PCS also announced that it has purchased a five-axis Makino A500z to bring capacity and added capabilities to the industry. The machine will let PCS continue to improve lead time and pricing for its customers.
“Our goal is to continue to drive cost out of the business, so we can continue to bring quality mold bases to our customers, at the best price on U.S. soil,” explained PCS President Angela Elsey. “As the only U.S.-based company that both manufactures mold bases in the U.S. and offers a complete line of components, molding products and hot runner systems, we pride ourselves on partnering with our customers to be a reliable one stop shop with real solutions.”
Among the new items the PCS Company offers are:
• The APSX-PIM V3 automatic plastic injection molding machine: Made in the U.S., the APSX-PIM is a heavy-duty yet easy-to-use and affordable press designed for continuous or single-cycle plastic part production in a compact 4-foot by 1-foot package. Introduced in 2017, the APSX-PIM is engineered as an alternative to the traditional injection molding machines used for production, R&D, prototyping, product design, education, research and other plastic part production environments.
• Stainless and M2 ejector pins: Corrosion-resistant pins in inch and metric sizes are ideal for medical and PVC molding applications and cleanroom environments. Through-hardened to 56–60 HRC, these pins offer superior wear resistance. High-precision manufacturing delivers a tight pin diameter tolerance of 0.0003″ for the inch category and 0.005 mm (0.0002″) for the metric JIS close-tolerance version.
Also in the PCS ejection product portfolio are PCS’ M2 ejector pins, offered in Inch and metric JIS standards. Metric pins come in standard and precision versions. Through-hardened to process highly abrasive plastics, the inch version measures hardness of 60-63 HRC, the metric version 58-60 HRC. These pins are also suitable for high-temperature applications. Stainless and M2 pins are also suitable as core pins.
• Indexable date stamps: These stamps, introduced late in 2025, are designed for quick installation and replacement while providing more efficient lot management and quality control. They feature a center arrow insert that can be installed directly from the parting line side without removing the mold plate. One turn of a screwdriver changes the arrow position. Featuring a steel ball stopper mechanism, the inserts offer superior positioning accuracy compared with traditional O-ring stoppers. This also makes the inserts more resistant to gas and heat during molding at temperatures.
PCS will also display previously available products including:
• F.I.T.S. inserts: The newest sizes in the Fast, Interchangeable Tooling System offer more mold building flexibility with all essential components and replacement plates. Recently added sizes include T-Style Insert assemblies and replacement plates for the 10/12 and 10/14 series and more A-plate and B-plate thickness options for the laminated style Inserts of the 10/12 and 10/14 series. All are compatible with the F.I.T.S. and MUD U-frames.
• EDM blanks (hardened): Precision Tool Steel EDM blanks engineered for mold builders seeking dimensional stability and predictable EDM performance. Supplied pre-hardened and precision-ground square and parallel, the 8″ by 8″ blanks are available in 1″, 2″ and 3″ thicknesses in three mold-focused grades: DCMX matrix-type cold work steel (59–61 HRC) for high wear resistance and toughness; H-13 hot-work steel (50–52 HRC) for thermal stability; and 420 ESR stainless (51–53 HRC) for corrosion resistance and superior polishability. Tight tolerances (+.004 / −.000) reduce roughing and squaring operations, enabling faster setup for wire and sinker EDM. Integrated with PCS mold bases and components, these mold-ready blanks help shops streamline procurement, shorten lead times and lower total tooling cost.
• Onyx hot runner controller system: Available with 12 to 120 zones, control and monitor hot runners with a convenient HMI touchscreen. Features include setup memory management, programmable boost and standby, auto tuning, soft start and communication port. Multilingual options available.
