Globeius and Plastixs Mark New Era with First Joint U.S. Exhibition at PTXPO

Press release submitted on behalf of Globeius and Plastixs.

Companies bringing array of solutions to Illinois event in March as they celebrate milestone anniversaries

Plastic solutions supplier Globeius and its new acquisition Plastixs will exhibit together in the U.S. for the first time at PTXPO in Rosemont, Illinois, from March 18-20.

Globeius, whose originating company Plastec USA is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and Plastixs, marking its 25th year, will exhibit an array of solutions for injection molding, material handling and other plastics processes.

Exhibitions
Attendees will learn of a pair of new Globeius offerings: Mouldpro mold splitter tables and new molding part separator trials using Crizaf demo machines.

Choosing the right injection molding part separator can be overwhelming. That’s why Globeius is offering free separation trials to help molders find the best solution for their unique parts. Molders can send Globeius sample injection molding parts and receive a video of the results.

Meanwhile, mold splitting tables from Mouldpro are designed for easy handling of molding tools. These tables simplify maintenance tasks by opening and closing molds in seconds, allowing quick access to different parts. A wide range of customizable options adapt these tables to any type of mold.

Plastixs will educate attendees about new products they are distributing:

  • Paratherm heat transfer fluids: A range of specialized fluids for temperature control in molding, extrusion, press heating, line tracing and coating rolls, as well as a liquid cleaner for hot-oil units.
  • Barb-Tech hose assembly tools: These versatile tools can be used with any type of hose. Portable, efficient and easy to use, they accommodate many types of fittings, including straight and elbow. Users experience safe hose assembly in injection molding, robotics, automation, pneumatics and other industrial applications. The Model V is a hose-gripping system, while the Model PQD is available in two kits: the PQD-CM for custom mold style push-lock hoses and the PQD-PM for Moldmate compatible push-lock hoses.
  • Nitto Kohki flow monitors:The Nitto Kohki FMC-30 Flow Monitor is an easy and convenient method for checking stable and accurate coolant flow rate. The FMC-lets operators check the flow of cooling water at a glance. Check the flow with the rotating two-colored impeller, operating at a fluid flow rate as low as 0.55 GPM to 5.25 GPM.

Milestone anniversaries
The first joint U.S. exhibition of Globeius and Plastixs is a fitting celebration of their respective anniversaries.

Globeius grew out of the 40-year-old Plastec USA Group. The entities have grown from focusing on the plastics industry in Latin America to serving the United States and Canada more recently under the Globeius brand.

Plastec USA was founded in 1985 by Hector Sosa and Walter Sula. Sosa and Sula were employed at Cincinnati Milacron as Latin American sales representatives and got Milacron’s blessing to serve as independent distributors. Three years after launching the company, Sosa acquired Sula’s shares, and soon after, Hector’s sons Ernesto and David joined. Ernesto went on to become president and David sales manager.

Soon after its creation, Plastec began representing and distributing complementary products – “and in that spirit, we acquired Plastixs in 2024 as yet another strong brand whose products are indispensable to the plastics industry,” Ernesto Sosa said.

David began his career as a sales engineer after earning a mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Miami. Ernesto joined a year later, bringing six years of experience from the Ford Motor Company; he specialized in the sale of used equipment and liquid color.

“From its inception, Plastec’s mission has been to provide best-in-class equipment and products that empower our customers to lead in their respective sectors,” Ernesto Sosa said. “The brands we represent are well-established and recognized for their quality and exceptional support.”

The Sosas spun off the Globeius brand to cater specifically to the U.S. market.

“Five years ago, we further expanded our operations by entering the U.S. market under the Globeius name, offering many of the products we had successfully introduced in Mexico and Latin America (with Soluciones Plasticas),” Ernesto Sosa explained. “We broadened our portfolio in the U.S. with high-quality equipment solutions sourced from Europe. As manufacturers increasingly seek ways to optimize operations while maintaining high-quality standards, we continue to introduce advanced automation solutions to help them achieve their goals.

Now, Globeius and its sister company Soluciones Plasticas employ over 60 staff in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Latin America.

“As we approach the 40th anniversary of Plastec USA, we remain committed to expanding our market reach by strategically partnering with companies that offer exceptional equipment and innovative solutions,” Ernesto Sosa concluded. “Our mission remains steadfast: to provide our customers with the highest-quality products, enabling them to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market.”

Plastixs Joins the Fold
Opening its doors 25 years ago in a small office in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, Plastixs is the brainchild of Mickey Blyskal, a pioneer of selling plastics equipment through the Internet.

In over four decades in the plastics industry, Blyskal developed deep expertise in the machinery and equipment used in injection molding and extrusion. His hands-on work with customers across the country highlighted a need for innovative, custom solutions to improve productivity and reduce downtime – and this insight drove him to establish Plastixs.

“I had worked for machinery companies and been an independent sales representative prior to starting Plastixs,” Blyskal recalled. “I started adding a range of distribution products to expand what I sold to processors to help smooth out some of the ups and downs of selling capital machinery and large systems.”

Spurred by years of feedback from plant personnel who had trouble getting good information on the supplies and components they needed to integrate their systems, “I found a growing customer base for someone who could provide sourcing and guidance for a wide range of auxiliary products.”

One of Blyskal’s initial ideas was selling many products through a website launched in 2003. “At the time no one was doing this for industrial products, and Google was still in the very early stages of their search business. I learned that people from all over the country were looking for the same solutions I was providing for our customers in the New England market. Giving plant personnel the ability to talk with folks with a lot of product experience and product knowledge fueled the growth of the company.”

Further milestones included the 2005 launch of its custom manifold assembly business and in 2010 expanding into more specialty applications – like water manifolds for new mold temperature controllers producing water up to 360 F and hotter.  “No standard manifolds or hose were rated for these applications, so we started providing complete turnkey solutions.  Today Plastixs is the industry leader in hot oil and high-temperature water manifold and hose assembly solutions.”

Blyskal sees numerous opportunities for Plastixs as a Globeius company:

  • International expansion.
  • Cross-selling synergies with complementary product lines.
  • Strengthened market position.
  • Comprehensive, innovative solutions for customers and suppliers.
