Monoflo International Reprocesses Over 60 Million Lbs of Plastic

Monoflo International, Ottawa, Kansas, originally started reprocessing plastics in 2012, and the company has been working with Wittmann Battenfeld since the beginning. Since then, Monoflo and Wittmann have made continuous improvements to the line, and they now run two “Totalizers” at Monoflo’s Winchester facility. The Totalizers now process more than 3,000 lbs/hour of HDPE, PP and structural foam parts.

Monoflo’s reprocessing operation involves buying back used or end-of-life containers from its customers, regrinding and reprocessing the material, and reintroducing the materials into newly molded containers. A challenge of the business has been to keep a steady stream of scrap products coming in, Extrusion Supervisor Calvin Wetzel said.

Monoflo and Wittmann Battenfeld have reprocessed over 60 million pounds of plastics materials since its conception.
