Charles A. Sholtis, CEO of Plastic Molding Technology Inc., El Paso, Texas, recently received the 2015 Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Business Management Award. The second-generation owner and leader of PMT, Sholtis thanked the many people who helped build PMT Inc.

“This award is much bigger than me,” he said. “It is about the people in my factory who work daily in the pursuit of excellence.”

The award is one of the highest honors SPE bestows upon an individual, recognizing outstanding achievements in the management of corporations, according to current SPE president Vijay Boolani. Sholtis was nominated for the award because of a relentless commitment to quality, service, value, innovation and continuous improvement in all aspects of PMT’s business, which has resulted in many long-term customer relationships and the company’s sustained growth. He was also recognized for his turnaround tenacity after the 2007 Great Recession hit – while many manufacturers were on the brink of failure, Sholtis steered PMT clear of the storm.

He was officially recognized during SPE’s 73rd Annual Technical Conference (ANTEC), which was held in conjunction with NPE2015 in Orlando, Florida, during both the SPE Leadership Luncheon and the SPI: Society of the Plastics Industry Plastics Hall of Fame Reception and Induction Ceremony.
