Plastics Business

More than 500 people from plastics processing companies across the US gathered in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 2016 MAPP Benchmarking & Best Practices Conference.

The annual MAPP Benchmarking & Best Practices Conference, held Oct. 13-14 in Indianapolis, Indiana, drew more than 500 attendees from across the US as plastics processors gathered to network and learn from others in the industry.

From facility security and company culture to operational planning and leadership, conference attendees heard a variety of experts both external and peer-based. Keynote speaker Simon T. Bailey energized the audience with his drivers for shifting the brilliance of individual contributions – bringing a mindset of high-performance and revitalization to every organization. Van Harp, principal of Harp & Associates, discussed security concerns in the manufacturing facility, particularly in light of recent active shooter situations. Lt. Col. Rob Waldman encouraged all attendees to find the “wingmen” in their organizations who help to build trust, overcome obstacles and adapt to change.

Of equal benefit were quick-fire sessions and breakouts where plastics processors shared knowledge with their peers. Session topics included job scheduling, mold changeovers, employee recruitment and retention, OSHA inspections and company performance trends.

A full recap of the MAPP conference will be available in the Fall 2016 issue of Plastics Business magazine. The 2017 event returns to Indianapolis on Oct. 11-13. For more information, visit
