Webinar to Explore Cleaning with Plasma
The importance of a clean plastic surface to making good parts cannot be taken for granted. Up to 80 percent of coating failures can be traced to poor surface preparation. Contamination also has been called “one of the most insidious factors affecting adhesive bond performance.”
Unfortunately, many contaminants cannot be seen with the naked eye or be removed by simply wiping parts with detergents or solvents. Left untreated, contaminated parts are more likely to fail in the field – costing time, money and reputation.
A free webinar, "Cleaning with Plasma: Improving the Performance of Inks, Coatings and Adhesives on Plastics" presented by Plasmatreat North America, will take place March 10 at 2 p.m. central and will describe the use of plasma to clean plastic surfaces. Plasma is a safe, environmentally friendly and technically robust process for removing microscopic contaminants that resist other cleaning methods.
Host Jeff Leighty, sales and business development manager, will explain how plasma removes contaminants and modifies the plastic surface to improve the adhesion of inks, coatings and adhesives. It is ideal for plastic part producers who mold, decorate and bond plastic parts and are concerned about adhesion failures due to airborne particles, mold release compounds, recycled plastics, fingerprints, dust or other sources of contamination.
